2022 Summer Camp Guide for Clearwater, Florida

While many summer camps were affected by COVID-19 last year, plenty of Clearwater parks and community centers have safely reopened with fun and safe activities for your kids throughout the summer. And now is the time to register!

Check out our 2022 summer camp guide for the Clearwater area to help your kids soak up the sun, develop skills, build friendships and make memories that last a lifetime.

City of Clearwater Summer Camps

City parks and recreation centers across Clearwater will offer school-aged children fun and safe activities at a low cost this summer, including games, sports, crafts, and weekly themes. Campers can also learn positive character traits and build new friendships under the supervision of caring adult counselors.

Countryside Recreation Center

  •  7 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Ages:

  • Children entering 1st – 8th grade

Camp Fees for Countryside (with fields trips and camp t-shirt):

  • Entire 10 week summer: $900 with PLUS pass, $1,000 with recreation card, $1,100 without recreation card
  • Session 1 (May 31 – July 1 OR July 5 – Aug. 5): $500 with PLUS pass, $550 with a card, $600 without card
  • Individual Week (If available after May 1): $125 per week with card, $138 per week no card

According to their website, it reads: 

  • Due to a grant from the Juvenile Welfare Board, the camp is $50 for the summer for those who meet the age criteria and are enrolled in a Pinellas County school. 
  • Camp fees and documentation are due at the time of registration. 
  • Inquire about camp scholarships with your recreation center staff.

Registration Begins: 

  • March 17th for Clearwater residents

Other Clearwater-Area Summer Camps

There are several other Clearwater-area community centers and private camps offering interactive activities for school-aged children throughout the summer. Below are a few of our favorites.

 

Clearwater Community Sailing Center

The Clearwater Community Sailing Center allows kids to spend their summer in the fresh air and on the water with sailing, windsurfing, and paddling camps for all experience levels.

Camp Dates: 

  • Weekly Sessions from June 6th to August 5th

Camp Hours: 

  •  9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • Extended Day 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. ($75 per week)

Ages:

  • Children ages 5-17

Camp Fees:

Little Puffs: Campers ages 5-7 will be sailing with an instructor learning about the wind and the water. The main focus is to have fun and be safe. There will be 2 sessions each day for Little Puffs: AM: 9-12 or PM 12-3.

  • $200/week for AM or PM session | $350/week to attend both AM & PM camps

Pram Camp 1: Pram Camp 1 is for first-time sailors ages 8-12 or up to 120lbs. This camp offers a basic level of sailing, focusing on the fundamentals while having a great time on the water.

  • $325- CCSC Members | $350 – Non-Members

Pram Camp 2: Pram II is a great camp available to sailors who have already completed Pram Camp 1 or who are ready to advance their skills. Pram II is for sailors 8-12 or up to 120lbs.

  • $325 – CCSC Members | $350 – Non-Members

Windsurfing: Windsurfing is a more physical sport and requires balancing on the board while sailing at the same time. CCSC has equipment specially designed for beginners so that getting on the water is fast and fun! Campers should be at least 70lbs. All experience levels are welcome.

  • $325 – CCSC Members | $350 – Non-Members

420 Camp: This camp is for those 12-17 years old. 420s are two-person boats that are great for beginners and experienced sailors alike.

  • $325 – CCSC Members | $350 – Non-Members

Water Adventure Camp: For campers ages 10 and up. Campers will be sailing primarily on Hobie Waves. Adventure camp also includes other fun activities like kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding. All experience levels are welcome.

Clearwater Marine Aquarium (CMA) Summer Marine Science Camp

Campers can embark on a coastal learning experience at Clearwater Marine Aquarium this summer, from activities ranging from snorkeling and kayaking to visiting rescued residents, seeing marine creatures in their natural habitat, and more.

Camp Dates: 

  • Weekly sessions from June 6th through August 19th

Camp Hours: 

  • Half-day morning camp: 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
  • Half-day afternoon camp: 1 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Full-day camp experience: 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Ages:

  • Grades Kindergarten through 12th grade

Clearwater YMCA Summer Camp

YMCA Suncoast summer camps are designed for school-aged children to have fun, find friendships, build confidence and learn the Y values to become great role models—with different weekly themes each session. Depending on the camp program, activities range from hands-on projects and in-house field trips to swimming twice/week, sensory games, sports activities, and more.

Dunedin Fine Art Center (DFAC) Summer Art Academy

Now in its 31st year of service, the Dunedin Fine Art Center’s Summer Art Academy will offer seven different art camps for a variety of ages, skills, and themes. Art camp offerings range from drawing, painting, clay, and fashion and are taught by local artists and educators across the region. Camp sizes are limited, so register today.

Soul Adventures Summer Camp

Skycrest Christian School offers Soul Adventures summer camps, with two camp options by ages: an Adventure Camp for children 10-14 with outdoor activities like kayaking, rock climbing, paddle boarding, biking, and fishing; and a Jr. Adventure Camp for children 5-9 years old with indoor and outdoor activities, water days, field trips and more.

Camp Dates:
